Personality assessment

20 05 2009

Picture 1 I had to take the DISC personality type test online for my Pastoral Counseling class. I learned I am a C/S-Competent Specialist personality. Check out the picture to the left – it is on C-behavior/personality’s stress management.

The Sources of irritation section really fit me to a “T”.

So if the Sources of irritation section fits me, perhaps I should follow the advice of the Needs To section.

What kind of personality are you? Go to http://www.wellnessdynamics.com/ and click on “Free wellness survey & personality profile”

Also, it tells you what behavioral blend you exhibit, and what behavioral blend you are.

Playing my guitar

20 05 2009

Photo 6

I traded in my saxophone for a guitar. Yup – I sold the Sax. It just seems so much easier picking up an instrument and playing for a period of time without having to worry about cleaning out the spit afterwords – hence the guitar. That and it is quieter and Melissa and I want to learn together (mainly she will not share her guitar with me).

So for our 8th anniversary (today), Melissa got me a guitar… a Martin 000X1 Auditorium Acoustic guitar.

I was up until 11pm last night playing my guitar. It sounds absolutely amazing, even when I’m not so good at playing.

And, no, I’m not trying to become a guitarist for Metallica (perhaps Five Iron Frenzy if they ever reunited…), but I would like to learn some chords so I can play worship music so that I can better worship God at home without listening to worship music on iTunes.

So here’s to worshipping God!       Thanks Melissa for the guitar.   And thanks Josh for helping me pick out my first guitar.

Melissa got a guitar

16 05 2009

martinlxk2 I bought Melissa a Little Martin LXK2 guitar today for our anniversary. It is so awesome! It’s a 3/4 size guitar. We’ve been playing it all evening.

I think I want to trade my saxophone for a guitar. It’s so much easier to just pick up and play, versus having to get out, assemble, play, disassemble, clean the spit out of, dry off, put away…

What kind of instrument do you (or did you) play?

Leaven

15 05 2009

Did you spot the heresies in Joel Osteen’s sermon? Kind of makes you sick, doesn’t it?

There is a website called A Little Leaven, it’s subtitle reads This is what happens when the church fails to remain faithful to the correct preaching and teaching of God’s Word. The website is a collection (and refutation of) idolatry in pseudo-churches, pop-culture and the media. It is where I found the above video.

Some of the categories include:

  • Christless Christianity
  • Emergent Church
  • Graveyard of Relevance
  • Je$u$ Junk
  • Man Centered Sermons
  • …. and Worship?

Check out the site and tell me what you think below…

Mullet over

11 05 2009

reference-mulletMelissa (my lovely wife of almost 8 years) has said to me on two occasions now that she wants me to grow my hair out longer when I get out of the Coast Guard. I’m not really sure what she means… Perhaps she wants my hair to be like the guy’s to the left? maybe not… Maybe she wants my hair to be longer than a military haircut, maybe down to my shoulders… who knows?

What say you – should I grow my hair out? Respond below… include hair style preference.

Note – if you believe I should grow out a mullet, please reference one of the many online mullet guides, as there are scads of different mullets. I don’t want you to be thinking Sweet Kentucky Waterfall mullet and I go grow a Skullet mullet.. that would be quite the faux pas).

I was actually thinking of growing a patchy joe-dirt-esque beard… Most votes wins…
